
Honey Buns
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoons butter, softened
- 1 cake (1 ounce) yeast
- 1/2 cup lukewarm water
- 1 1/2 cups corn flakes cereal
- 2 cups regular all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup seedless raisins.
Filling
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Honey Filling
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup liquid honey
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts
Directions
- Scald milk.
- Remove from heat
- Stir in 2 tablespoons sugar, the salt and 2 tablespoons butter
- Cool to lukewarm
- Meanwhile, dissolve yeast in lukewarm water
- Sift together corn flakes cereal and 1 cup of flour
- Add scalded milk mixture and yeast
- Mix well
- Beat in egg and raisins
- Gradually add remaining flour to form soft dough, mixing well
- Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease surface
- Cover lightly with tea towel
- Let rise in warm place until dough has doubled in volume (1 1/2 to 2 hours)
- Punch dough down
- On lightly floured surface, roll dough to 14 x 10 inch rectangle
- Brush with 1 tablespoon butter
- Sprinkle with a mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon.
- Starting with shorter end, roll up lengthwise, jelly roll fashion.
- Seal edge
- Cut into 10 1-inch slices
- Set aside
- For honey topping melt 2 tablespoons butter
- Stir in honey, 2 tablespoons sugar and the nuts
- Spread evenly in 8-inch round cake pan
- Arrange rolls, cut side down, over honey mixture
- Cover lightly
- Let rise in warm place until dough has doubled in volume (30 to 40 minutes)
- Bake in oven at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) about 20 minutes or until lightly browned
- Remove from oven
- Invert on serving plate
