Together Site with me. I have enjoyed it
very much. It brings one to realize the inner
peace we all should share at this special
time of the year. Gods Blessings to us all.

Hello
Linda –
I found your site doing a web-search for
the “Candy Cane Legend”. I was
so very surprised to find the details of
a Ukrainian Christmas under recipes. My (adopted)
children were born in Ukraine, so I am constantly
on the lookout for cultural items for them.
I linked over to the Mennonite Relief Sale – it
would be really neat to be able to go some
day – but I am wondering if there is
more of a connection. I understand parts
of Canada have large Ukrainian populations,
is this area of Ontario one of them?
If you can put me in touch with any local
Ukrainian cultural events I would be grateful.
Thank you and happy holidays! - Eli and Ellie’s
mom - Susan
Thanks Susan for your letter. We have many Ukranians and Mennonites in the Waterloo Region. Hope you can visit here sometime. As I said in my personal note to you I will do more research for you after Christmas -Linda
It
is more like a wish.
So many kids out on the streets with nothing
to hope for, some times I wish that there
really was a Santa Clause. I wish that there
was something that I could do for them, but
for now all I could do is pray.

I'm
dreaming of a christmas, for everyone
who is cold, be given a coat, all who is
hungry be fed, shelter for those who are not
so fortunate to have a home or roof, for
the sick, perhaps the day to be a little
easier, maybe a visit from a friend or family
member,to let them know, they were not forgotten
after all! remembering our loved ones and
being thankful for our families today ,and
telling them they are loved, gifts don't
say out loud, I love you merry christmas.
Just a wonderful very old fashioned christmas!
Like it used to be.
Dorothy Mccarty
Thank-you for having this wonderful site!!
I am dreaming of a Christmas day where my Mother is pain free from the cancer
that is taking her life and my brothers to be pain free from their illness's so
that we may all enjoy Gods love and his many blessings and for me to have the
strength to get through what lies ahead. Please pray for us, Donna Betts
Here is a poem from Alexander Chornyj ... thank you for the lovely images. - Linda
...What I am dreaming for this Christmas, is not material stuff nor money. What I would really, really want is peace and tranquility in my life.... Toni
May you all find peace - thanks Toni - Linda
Thank you for helping me find a part of my heritage. I have been looking for the Kutia recipe for many years . . . as my ants and grand mother have passed on many years ago.
None of the recipes were written down and I was too little to understand the language of my paternal grandparents. Sadly, I was only spoke to in English . . .even tho' my father could speak 5 languages.
Recently, I was able to reconnect with a female cousin and she has given me photos of my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and even my brother and I with our parents. We have never seen those photos before, how nostalgic, but beautiful to have. I am make a heritage album for my brother who lives in Arizona for Christmas and will be spending Christmas Day with my cousin and her son and our family.
Once again, I thank you for the wealth of information on my heritage . . . and my cousin will be so surprised to see hay on the table cloth . . .: )
I'm dreaming of a Thankful Christmas. I am Thankful that God has blessed me, our family and friends this year. Oakland, Michigan, USA
I'm dreaming of a peaceful, safe Christmas. I'm dreaming of a happy, joyful
Hannukah. I'm also dreaming of a wonderful, merry Kwanzaa. Whatever holiday you
celebrate, I hope your dreams come true! A Funny Story...
This morning, I was in the kitchen helping my mom clean when I heard a splash.
I looked out the back door to see my dad getting out of the pool drenched. Also
accompanying him was a duster floating in the icy water. He fell in the pool while
cleaning the screen. Can you imagine what it must feel like to fall in a 65 degree
pool? -Stephanie, 13
Thank you Stephanie for your story - I hope your dad didn't get a cold. I too wish everyone a joyful, peaceful, safe holiday season. - Linda
I am dreaming that the hope for peace is not a dream, the effort for tolerance is not fruitless and that respect of and honour for all is not a distant, unrealized fantasy. I am dreaming that my children will be fulfilled by visiting grandparents and family in Canada (we currently live in Germany) instead of pining away for the newest fad toy on the market. I am dreaming that every last one of us on this earth will acknowledge the goodness of this season as a chance to receive the goodness ourselves and to reject hatred, anger, and destruction of people regardless of who they are of where they come from. I am dreaming that all of this can start with me and other like-minded people! Merry Christmas and A Happy, Peaceful New Year! - Sandra Jurcic
What I'm dreaming this Christmas:

a very Happy holiday. I also hope they find your web site for it is a wonderful
place to see. Thank-you for your website.- Roxie Moll
Dear Linda,
I visited your website and found a great craft project for a class my husband
and I teach at church. I wanted to share this poem
my husband wrote about Christmas last year. I hope it blesses your heart. Thank
you, Sharon Valentic
Here in South Africa, we are dreaming of a peaceful Christmas with our loved ones. We wish the same for you and yours. God Bless you all at this very special time of the year. - Diane - Cape Town, South Africa.
My family starts with a Christmas village scene the day after Thanksgiving. The rest of the decorating is a gradual process over days until two weeks before Christmas, we get a live tree. The whole family helps in decorating the tree, then that night, we watch all our favorite Christmas shows on tape. Cookies to give as gifts are a big part of our holiday, also.
I read your story about your Christmas traditions. Mine are somewhat similar. We have many traditions for Christmas. Here are some of them. Every year, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, we as a family decorate the house for Christmas and start listening to Christmas music. A couple weeks before Christmas we bake Christmas cookies. On Christmas Eve, we go the to evening family mass, after we go out to dinner and then drive around looking at Christmas lights. We always sit down as a family and watch all of the Christmas programs together. And of course we always watch "White Christmas" more than once.
