Preparing for Christmas

Advent is a time of preparation. It is a time to help our children learn who Jesus was and why he was such a wonderful gift from God. When my children were small we tried several ways to help them wait patiently and expectantly for Christmas day.

One year I wrapped each figure of our Creche scene in Christmas paper and tied a bow around them. I placed them in a basket by the small stable. Each Sunday both of my daughters would select and open a "gift" of a shepherd or perhaps a cow and place it in the stable. Along with each opening we would tell parts of the Christmas story. The final figure was the baby Jesus which we put under the tree to be opened on Christmas morning. That morning the girls ran to the tree to find the baby. They gently placed it in the manger.. It was a lovely and memorable Christmas activity..

I would really like to hear from you. Share some of your Christmas memories. I will share them with others visitors at this site. Write to me at linda@imagitek.com
